Welcome to the town of Quartets
Situated in the heart of the Emilia region, Reggio Emilia is a city brimming with history, tradition, culture and art. Its culinary heritage has been passed down through the generations. The home of Parmigiano Reggiano and traditional balsamic vinegar, it is a place where its inhabitants’ industriousness means industrial excellence, where hospitality and generosity are a way of life.
Culture is at the very heart of the city: its historic buildings and museums house permanent exhibitions and collections. Squares, churches, the Basilica della Ghiara, arcades, courtyards, the San Pietro cloisters, are brought to life by the cultural events they hold year round. The city’s education system is known throughout the world as The Reggio Emilia approach.
Reggio is the city of the three Theatres, all facing onto the same square, and the city of quartets.
