Biography
“Shining Brighter Together as a Quartet,” “Creating a Beautiful Palette with Diverse Tones,” and “A Performance that Narrates Their Stories Beyond Simple Sounds” – these are the accolades bestowed upon the Eden Quartet. All members graduated from the Korean National University of Arts and are currently pursuing their studies in Germany. Active as soloists in their respective domains, they formed the group in spring 2017, naming it ‘Eden’ in Korean, meaning ‘benign and kind.’ This name reflects the members’ desire to comfort people through music.
In February 2023, just over a year after solidifying their current lineup, the Eden Quartet clinched the third prize at the 2023 Mozart International Competition. The quartet participated in various events such as the “2019 MPyC’s Pick (with NOVUS Quartet),” selection and performance at the 2021 Seoul Arts Center “Summer Music Festival”, their first solo recital at Lotte Concert Hall in 2022, a recital at Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall in 2023, and participation in the “2023 RENDEZ-VOUS DE LA MUSIQUE FESTIVAL”.
Having gained attention by reaching the semi-finals in their first attempt at the “2022 ARD International Competition,” the quartet was recently invited as performing artists to the prestigious “2023 Hitzacker Festival” in Germany.
Currently pursuing a master’s degree in chamber music under Prof. Oliver Wille at the Hannover University of Music in Germany.
